In 2010, Douly’s Jewelry was the title sponsor of The Frosting event that opened the Junior League of Denver’s Holiday Mart. The “Douly’s Jewelry Diamond Discovery Toast” was a new aspect of the JLD’s largest annual fundraiser and we were honored to help put some extra sparkle into the event. Over 250 women bought special tickets to receive a glass of sparkling wine. In the bottom of each glass, we had placed a cubic zirconia except for one. In one glass, there was a 3/4 carat round brilliant cut diamond. One lucky girl was going home with a special bit of frosting. There was only one diamond among hundreds of glasses. As each woman presented her glass, Laurence inspected each stone. As the end of the line approached and the real stone was yet revealed, a hush fell across the room. At last, Laurence paused. He peered intently at one precious gem. Saleem was summoned to confer and after a look through the loop, he confirmed the real diamond was discovered. There were screams of excitement and our winner showed tears of joy.

 Theft typically makes us feel extremely vulnerable and suspicious. One of our clients had her wedding ring stolen and called us from the East coast. Since Douly's Jewelry was the original jeweler, we quickly assessed our files, identified the best way to replace her diamond quickly, completed the insurance paperwork and sent her a new ring without having to hassle our client. During the process, we updated her ring design, as requested, and we were able to find a diamond of superior color at the same value. She received her ring and it was like the loss never happened.

When our long time client came in with their wedding set, it was falling apart. In a collaborative effort to economize, we decided to redesign a setting using her legacy diamond as the centerpiece. It was also important to integrate her side baguette diamonds. Using computer-aided design (CAD) we redesigned her ring using all her existing diamonds in a new ring. After the renderings were created, we emailed the images across thousands of miles to our clients enjoying a cruise on the Mediterranean Sea. Once we received approval of the design, we dismantled the old ring and discovered serious damage to the baguettes. It became necessary to completely re-cut and polish the baguette diamonds. We also refined the old platinum setting for a credit towards the new ring. After repairing the baguettes and setting the center diamond in our new design we awaited for the  unveil upon the return of our friends from their cruise.
